Baked calamari rings are made healthy and gluten-free by using olive oil, oat flour, and gluten-free breadcrumbs to make them golden and crispy in your own oven. Calamari naturally has a beautiful and mild flavor once cooked so I season them with sea salt, garlic powder and smoked paprika to bring that sweetness out.
Baked Calamari Rings as a Tasty Treat
Squid, or calamari as people of the Mediterranean region call it, is a popular food in counties around the Mediterranean sea. I’ll dare say that fried calamari rings are probably the most well-known and loved dish. It’s one of my favorite dishes and that’s why I turned to oven baked instead of a deep fried to prepare them. After all, we can all agree that breaded and baked calamari rings are better for you than deep fried ones.
While calamari is a good source of copper and selenium, vitamins B-3 and B-12, it’s also rich in sodium and cholesterol. So, if you’re concerned with sodium and cholesterol intake, you should be aware of that.

Personally, I prefer calamari rings with a yogurt dip. Both plain whole milk or greek yogurt will work. Also, a drip of freshly squeezed lemon juice over the rings is a must! I serve the dipping sauce in these glass ramekins. They are prefect for individual dip dishes, so you can double dip!
